History

The first Fanini cycling team was founded in 1948 by Lorenzo Fanini, founder of this family that has always had cycling running in its blood.
In 1984, after almost 30 years of successes in all the minor categories, the youngest amongst the Fanini brothers, Ivano - today "Commendatore" of the Republic and President of the group - decided to take the team at a professional level and chose to have by his side as Sports Director one of the greatest champions of all time, Gino Bartali.

Since 1948 almost 5000 athletes have worn with honor and success the team's jersey, taking over 7000 victories at an International level all around the world. Among all the main achievements, 60 National Titles stand out ( 36 are Italian championships in all disciplines and categories), 13 World Championships, 1 European Championship, 1 Giro d'Italia Femminile (with Michela Fanini) and 15 stages in the Giro d'Italia.

During these 60 years we have also launched many new talents and relaunched already skilled athletes, some of which have participated in writing the history of cycling.
The most relevant examples are without a doubt the former world champion, let alone the strongest sprinter of all times, Mario Cipollini, and the "cacciatori di classiche" (classic hunters) Michele Bartoli, Rolf Sorensen and Andrea Tafi.
The meaning of our message:
Until 1988 the team had as first name Fanini and was supported by other sponsors, but 1989 represents the turning point. The Gs Amore & Vita was founded to promote worldwide humanitarian values that are already enclosed in the main title. This is the message we have worn with pride on our shirts for over 20 years. It's a downright respect for life in all its forms hymn.
This is why the Vatican has always supported and sustained us, to the point where Pope Giovanni Paolo II became Honorary Member and received in audience the team ever since its foundation, to bless athletes and staff.
Also the political world, that shares catholic values, has sustained us since the beginning. In fact the team counts as chairman, the current Governor of Region Lombardia, Roberto Formigoni. Even the current Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi has supported the team for several years through companies of his group and still today he preserves a sincere friendship with Ivano Fanini.
